Meet L.A. Beal
I’m L. A. Beal, a fantasy author and worldbuilder with a deep love for mythic stories, lyrical language, and characters who break the rules. I write what I call "intimate epics": sweeping adventures with an emotional core. My stories are populated by queer heroes, ancient prophecies, and messy love in all its forms. I believe fantasy should be both immersive and reflective—an escape that still speaks to who we are.
I’m especially drawn to stories that explore the tension between power and vulnerability, destiny and choice. As someone who grew up searching for queer and complex characters in fantasy and rarely found them, I now write books that would’ve made younger me feel seen. If my worlds make someone else feel that way, even once—I’ve done what I set out to do.

When I’m not writing, I’m probably things, more things, or trying to keep my three cats—Onion, Garlic, and Sage—from taking over my desk. You can find me chasing stories wherever they hide—in deserts, in dreams, and sometimes in the notes app at 2am.
